NOTES: In the 1940's, Britain’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) ordered military spec wristwatches from 12 manufacturers in Switzerland for British soldiers. The specifications were all the same, although some companies took certain liberties. They all had black dial with Arabic numerals, the broad arrow symbol and luminous material (radium), stainless steel cases with fixed bars and a chronometer movement. These all have military issue engravings on the caseback including the W.W.W. that stands for Watch, Wristlet, Waterproof. Nicknamed the ‘Dirty Dozen’ the Cyma was made in 20,000 examples and although more common to find, condition like this is very rare. It also has a recognizable 38mm case. Many of these were re-lumed from radium to tritium by MOD, so finding an original radium dial is rare.
