Vacheron Constantin launched its ultra-thin perpetual calendar, reference 43031 in 1983, following the lead of Audemars Piguet, having launched theirs in 1978. It had a distinct month subdial with 4 quadrants for leap year indication, something its predecessor from Audemars Piguet did not display until later when the leap year indicator hand was added by both companies.
In 1984, Vacheron Constantin launched the reference 43032, their first openwork (skeleton) ultra-thin perpetual calendar wristwatch. Approximately 150 pieces of the 43032 were made in platinum, of which, 130 had white registers and 20 had blue registers.
